Small, lightweight and, ideally, still highly visible: this is the concept behind Infini’s new Bolide lighting system. Each light weighs just 16 grams and, at just under four centimetres wide, is extremely compact. Nevertheless, the manufacturer promises high visibility both by day and by night.
Front and rear lights with six LEDs
Both the front and rear lights each feature six LEDs. According to the manufacturer, in daytime running light mode, the front light produces up to 100 lumens and the rear light up to 30 lumens. A special light guide is designed to further improve visibility on the road.
The lights are operated via a touch-sensitive switch. This allows you to switch between the different lighting modes without the need for a traditional push-button. Installation is carried out using a tool-free mount with a swivelling base. This is designed to enable the system to be fitted quickly to a variety of bicycles.
A rechargeable battery instead of a disposable product
There is an interesting detail inside. Infini uses a removable lithium battery which can be taken out using standard tools once it has reached the end of its service life. This is in line with the new EU Battery Regulation, which aims to promote better recyclability of batteries.
The manufacturer states that the charging time is around 1.5 hours via USB-C. An indicator shows when the battery is running low.
Up to 50 hours’ running time
Depending on the operating mode, the Bolide light set is designed to last a long time. In Eco-Flash mode, Infini states a maximum runtime of up to 50 hours. Thanks to its IPX6 protection rating, the lights are also designed to work reliably even in bad weather.
Thanks to their light weight and compact dimensions, the Bolide lights are likely to appeal particularly to cyclists looking for lighting that is as unobtrusive as possible for their road bike, gravel bike or commuter bike.
