Mountaineering specialist Black Diamond is giving its lighting range a complete overhaul for autumn 2026 and, with a 3,000-lumen flagship model, is launching its first specialised headlamp with a helmet mount.

Focus on performance, comfort and USB-C

Under the name “F26 Lighting”, outdoor equipment manufacturer Black Diamond is launching a comprehensively updated headtorch collection on 1 September 2026. The entire product range has undergone a fundamental technical overhaul. Key features across the range include increased brightness, modernised USB-C charging systems, simplified operation thanks to optimised switches, and the consistent use of recycled materials. The range covers a broad spectrum – from lightweight all-rounders for camping or urban use to technically advanced models for high-altitude alpine tours.

The new flagship model for mountain bikers

The technological highlight of the new collection is the completely newly developed Megawatt Headlamp. Whilst the more compact sister models are primarily designed for traditional outdoor activities on foot, the new top-of-the-range model is specifically aimed at the so-called ‘mountain endurance’ sector – that is, activities such as mountain biking, trail running or ski touring.

The Megawatt is the only model in the entire range to come fitted as standard with a universal, GoPro-compatible mounting system (‘Action Sports Mounting System’), including special helmet mounts. This allows the light to be securely mounted on cycling and skiing helmets.

Extreme brightness and wireless control

To ensure maximum illumination during fast off-road descents, the light delivers a light output of up to 3,000 lumens via six optimised LEDs. A wireless remote switch ensures the necessary safety whilst on the move. It can be attached directly to the handlebars or a ski pole, allowing you to adjust the light modes without having to take your hands off the handlebars.

Power is supplied by an external battery with a capacity of just over 50 Wh, which is said to guarantee up to four hours’ runtime at maximum output. An integrated LCD display also shows the user the exact remaining runtime. A practical added bonus for longer rides: The battery features a USB-C ‘Charge-Out’ port and can act as a power bank when needed, for example to recharge smartphones or sat-navs directly on the bike. The housing is designed to be fully water- and dust-tight in accordance with the IP67 standard.
