A good smartphone mount doesn’t have to be expensive. At around 30 euros, the Topeak is at the lower end of the price range among the products tested, yet still achieves an impressive overall score of 1.5. This makes the mount a genuine value-for-money choice for cyclists looking for a reliable solution for navigation and training apps.

A clever all-round solution at an affordable price

If you want to use your smartphone whilst cycling, you don’t necessarily have to rely on special cases or proprietary mounting systems. The Topeak Omni RideCase II takes a universal approach and is aimed at riders who want to use different smartphones flexibly. Priced at just under 30 euros, this mount is one of the more affordable models in the test and is also one of the lightest designs.

To secure the smartphone, Topeak uses a padded mounting plate on which the device rests. An elastic rubber mesh stretches across the four corners of the device, ensuring a secure hold. This design works with many popular smartphones and requires no special case or adapter. At the same time, the display and key functions remain accessible at all times. In practice, it’s particularly impressive how easy it is to use – it takes hardly any getting used to.

Weighing just 55 grams, the Omni RideCase II adds very little extra weight to the cockpit. Another handy feature is that the mount can be fitted either to the left or right of the stem, making it easy to adapt to different handlebar set-ups. For those who prefer an even tidier look, stem mounting is also an option. The combination of low weight, high flexibility and straightforward operation makes the Topeak an attractive solution for budget-conscious cyclists who want to attach their smartphone securely to their bike with minimal effort.

The editorial team’s verdict on the Topeak smartphone holder

An affordable and flexible mount: thanks to the Velcro strap, it can be attached without tools to almost any handlebar or stem with a circumference of up to 150 millimetres, making it easy to switch between different bikes. The strap may slip on very smooth surfaces; an Ahead version is also available. The extremely elastic silicone straps grip the smartphone at the corners, leaving all buttons accessible and holding it surprisingly securely on the grippy surface, even on bumpy roads.
