Komoot Live Sync: Adapt route to Wahoo ELEMNT bike computer while riding

Komoot and Wahoo Fitness are expanding their existing collaboration with a new synchronisation function. Live Sync transfers routes from the Komoot app to Wahoo ELEMNT bike computers within seconds.

Real-time synchronisation allows routes to be adjusted while riding. Changes in the Komoot app appear immediately on the connected Wahoo device without interrupting the current navigation. This flexibility is particularly relevant on longer tours when conditions such as weather or road closures change.

Fast route planning for world record attempt

Ultra-endurance cyclist Lael Wilcox is planning to cycle around the world in under 78 days and break the previous record. Routes often have to be adjusted at short notice for such rides. Lael Wilcox explains: "When you're trying to cycle around the world as quickly as possible, every minute counts. Plans change all the time on a trip like this. Being able to quickly adjust a route and send it directly to the bike computer makes a big difference."

The function is designed to facilitate logistical adjustments during the journey. Instead of stopping and transferring routes manually, drivers or accompanying persons can make changes in the app, which then appear automatically on the device.

How synchronisation works

Cyclists select or create a route in the Komoot app and tap on "Navigate with Wahoo". The route is automatically transferred and is available on the Wahoo ELEMNT bike computer within seconds. Navigation can start immediately. We have tried it out: it works.

Routes can be edited in the Komoot app during the journey. The changes are transferred to the Wahoo device in real time without having to stop the current navigation. The function works with all compatible Wahoo ELEMNT models.

Navigation & route planning

The integration utilises Komoot's planning tools for navigation on Wahoo devices. Cyclists can access global heat maps that show which routes are frequently travelled by other users. The app provides information on surfaces and route types as well as highlights from the community of over 50 million users.

Sights and points of interest along the route can be included in the planning. The combination of Komoot planning and Wahoo navigation is designed to simplify the preparation and realisation of tours.
