MTB drivetrain: spare and tuning parts for Sram Eagle
An extremely large number of Sram 1x12 Eagle drivetrains have been sold in recent years. At Eurobike, Leonardi will be showcasing technically sensible and, above all, colourful tuning parts for the popular drivetrain.

Fiery, colourful, exciting: Spanish fashion is said to be a bit like the Spanish themselves. Given the southerners' sense of style, it is not surprising that they are not satisfied with black derailleur pulleys and grey cassettes on their bikes. Leonardi, a tuning manufacturer from near Madrid, has given the Sram 1x12 Eagle gear groups developed in Schweinfurt a colourful tuning treatment.

Fulvio Ricciardi, head of Leonardi Factory, promises: "Leonardi parts are not only colourful, they are also always lighter and cheaper than the original Sram parts!" The promise of a lower price is not true in most cases, but Ricciardi is right about the weight.

This is how gaudy a drivetrain can look after it has been tuned in the workshop at Leonardi Factory. The Spaniards have cassettes, derailleur pulleys, cable pulleys and derailleur cages milled in Italy. The 1x12 cassette bears the name Non-Plus-Ultra (NPU). At the moment there is a gradation from 9 to 48 teeth. A 10-50 version is to be added soon. The cassette weighs 330 grams and costs 379 euros according to the manufacturer. The picture shows the various production stages from the steel block to the cassette. The shifting aids and teeth of the end product look extremely similar to the original Sram cassette. The largest sprocket is made of aluminium and is available in different colours. For real tuning freaks, Leonardi also offers 12-speed cassettes with up to three aluminium sprockets. However, the weight reduction then comes at the expense of durability. Photo: Ludwig Döhl As with the original Sram cassette, the lowest 11 sprockets are milled from a solid block of steel. So if you're looking for a new cassette, derailleur cage or derailleur pulley anyway, you should take a look at the Webshop from Leonardi Factory click. All the spare parts for the Sram 1x12 Eagle made a high-quality impression at the Spanish company's Eurobike stand. The milled parts are manufactured near the traditionally motorsport-mad northern Italian town of Imola near Bologna, where numerous industrial companies are based.

Derailleur pulleys are wearing parts. If you have worn out your original pulleys anyway, you can buy the colourful tuning pair for 72 euros from Leonardi. The Italians have fitted a ball bearing instead of the usual plain bearing to the cable guide pulley integrated in the Sram rear derailleur. This should reduce friction. The tuning pulleys are available in all colours for 27 euros. The rear of the rear derailleur cage is available for 39 euros.Photo: Ludwig Döhl Derailleur pulleys are wearing parts.
