This depends on various factors. The SPV dampers have a valve with which the breakaway torque can be adjusted. Low forces, such as low-frequency pedalling, are not enough to move the damper. The damper therefore suppresses bobbing. As a rule, bobbing is only so extreme that it is annoying on poorly designed rear triangles or with a lot of travel. If the rear triangle has a lot of travel, it makes sense to install it. With a poorly constructed rear triangle, especially on older full-suspension bikes, the not exactly cheap conversion is effective, but a new frame may not be much more expensive.
