The pannier rack is simply part and parcel of bikepacking - there is certainly also the option of touring with a rucksack, but the pannier rack is always more comfortable. Additional luggage for a tour can of course also be stored on the seat post and handlebars or on the frame. But a pannier rack is not only suitable for bikepacking, it is also an easy way for commuters to transport shopping, a laptop or sports equipment - without loading your back.
The German manufacturer is now launching its first retrofit rack for gravel and mountain bikes under the Infinity series. This is new for the retail trade, as the series has already been used in the OEM sector and has been fitted to numerous bikes ex works. According to SKS from Sauerland, the special feature of the rack system is that it is easy to mount on the seat stay and can be customised to the frame. The Infinity series also includes a waterproof pannier with MIK adapter for click mounting on the bike rack. There are also mudguards and a matching rear light.
The "Infinity Universal" bike rack weighs 975 grams. The rack is made of aluminium, can be adapted to almost any frame geometry using a special mechanism and allows a maximum of 2.8 inch tyres. A quick-release system with nylon straps enables uncomplicated mounting on the seat stays. A corresponding Torx spanner is also included. According to SKS, all standard side panniers can be mounted on the pannier rack. The rack is designed for luggage weighing up to 12 kilograms. SKS has also included a special adapter plate (MIK), which is designed to make it easier to attach bags to the bike using a click system. The development of the new MTB rack was the responsibility of SKS's in-house design department. According to the Sunderner company, the "made in Germany" seal of quality is particularly important during production. The Infinity series racks are now available from retailers or online.
