Non-alcoholic beer: isotonic miracle drink?
Cheers: Non-alcoholic beers are all the rage - especially among athletes as a flavourful thirst-quenching alternative. We tried out five beers.

We subjected these five non-alcoholic beers to a blind tasting - with the following results:

Becks Pils, non-alcoholic 0.33 l

The beer from Bremen was well received by our testers. The flavour is tart, slightly bitter and hoppy. Everyone agreed: Becks Blue is very similar to normal Becks Pils. Other notes from the testers: drinkable; refreshing; good; like real beer; tastes good. | Price: 0,85 Euro

Erdinger Grapefruit, non-alcoholic 0.33 l

The brewery from Erding in Bavaria has two new non-alcoholic wheat beer mix beers in its range. The Grapefruit Alcohol-Free does not contain any artificial sweeteners or flavourings - it tastes fruity, sweet and refreshing as expected. Conclusion: a good thirst quencher. | Price: 0,82 Euro

Franziskaner wheat beer, non-alcoholic 0.5 litre

At 21 calories, Franziskaner has the fewest calories in the test field. In our taste test, the beer from Bavaria polarised opinion. Some suspected it was a regular Franziskaner wheat beer, others found it too malty. Other notes: slack; tangy; neutral. | Price: 0,99 Euro

Krombacher wheat beer, non-alcoholic 0.33 l

Krombacher entered its 0.0 % wheat beer into the race. The beer, which is brewed with the infamous rock spring water, sees itself as an isotonic thirst quencher. In fact, it has slightly more calories than the competition. The flavour: tangy; delicious; a little carbonated. | Price: 0,67 Euro

Schneider Weisse wheat beer, non-alcoholic 0.5 l

The beer from Lower Bavaria caused confusion among the testers thanks to our blind tasting. Because avowed Schneider-Weisse fans rated their beer brand rather poorly. The notes: little flavour; filling; extremely malty; okay; lots of carbonation. | Price: 0,99 Euro

"Many manufacturers advertise their beers as isotonic miracle drinks. However, there is hardly any difference in the content of the beers tested. They all contain similar amounts of calories, sugar and carbohydrates. Nevertheless, non-alcoholic beers are very suitable as thirst quenchers on tour. "Robert Gorgos, nutrition expert Formkante.de
