Worthwhile break

Incomplete, so-called "rewarding breaks" are part of interval training. These breaks are called "rewarding" because they allow the lactate produced during exercise to be partially broken down again. This delays the body's fatigue.

Depending on the intensity and duration of the exercise as well as the individual training condition, the "rewarding break" can last between 30 seconds and several minutes. Recovery is controlled by the heart rate: the pulse should be around 120 beats before the next exercise is performed. This distinguishes the "rewarding pause" from the "complete pause" of the repetition method, in which the pulse rate falls almost back to the resting value during recovery (90 - 100 beats).
