Relief syndrome

At the end of the season, but also in the case of injury-related or other abstinence from training, athletes who have become accustomed to months or years of activity can suffer from real withdrawal symptoms: A feeling of pressure in the chest, circulatory difficulties, dizziness and headaches, digestive and cardiac arrhythmia, and even depression and anxiety are just some of the symptoms that can occur with a withdrawal syndrome. This is presumably due to disturbances in the sensitive balance of hormones and neurotransmitters (nerve messengers) such as serotonin. This increases in the brain during sport and can influence mood.

Paradox: in some cases, exactly the same symptoms occur with relief as with overtraining.

However, the treatment for "sports addicts" is simple: if you resume moderate training, the symptoms disappear completely after a short time.
