​Zwift Ride V2: Popular smart bike now available with an adjustable crank length

Since its launch, the Zwift Ride has established itself as an affordable alternative to significantly more expensive smart bikes: a complete indoor frame including a trainer, virtual gear shifting and full Zwift integration. With the V2, Zwift has addressed the shortcomings of its predecessor – without raising the price.

Zwift isn’t reinventing the indoor bike, but the changes made since the first version are opening the door to indoor cycling, particularly for shorter riders. Until now, the Zwift Ride indoor bike was suitable for riders 1.52 m and taller. Adjustable crank length? Not a chance. The new version is designed to suit riders from a height of 1.46 metres and offers several crank length options that can be easily swapped between. Anyone who already owns a Zwift Ride can retrofit the cranks and a new seatpost, which allows for a greater range of saddle adjustment.

What has changed?

One criticism of the Ride V1 was its limited adjustment range: it stopped at 152 cm – shorter riders were left out in the cold. That’s now a thing of the past. The V2 frame has been made more compact and now accommodates riders from 146 to 198 cm in height.

Then there are the adjustable cranks. You simply screw the pedals into the corresponding thread to select the right crank length. There are five lengths to choose from, ranging from 160 to 175 mm.

The redesigned seatpost also allows for greater fore and aft adjustment of the saddle. With a wider range of adjustment options, it should be easier to fine-tune the fit to match that of your own road bike or gravel bike.

The concept remains the same: Smart Frame plus Trainer, virtual gear changes.
