Indoor training doesn't have to be expensive: The Tacx Boost for just under 250 euros is a quiet and powerful roller trainer with an output of up to 1050 watts.

Tacx's Boost is a powerful and quiet indoor home trainer with a peak output of 1050 watts, so that training doesn't have to stop in winter. And at a low price of just under 250 euros.

Freezing cold, darkness and mud make cycling in winter a test of courage for some bikers. If you can't quite bring yourself to go out in the muddy weather, but still want to get going straight away in spring, an exercise bike is a great way to keep fit.

However, most smart home trainers are quite expensive. Now the Dutch manufacturer Tacx with the new Boost model provide a low-cost and high-performance alternative.

Winter training at home without electricity

According to Tacx, only two steps are needed to start indoor training. No need to remove the rear wheel or plug in the power cable, the Tacx Boost does not require any electricity at all. Instead, the resistance is regulated manually via a powerful magnetic brake. 10 levels and a maximum power of up to 1050 watts can be set using the lever on the handlebars.

Normally, roller trainers in this price range are not exactly quiet. However, the closed magnetic brake should guarantee quiet training in your own four walls and not disturb even sensitive neighbours.

The 1.65-kilogram flywheel is designed to provide a natural pedalling feel, while the front wheel support supplied ensures a balanced riding experience - who rides downhill all the time? Practical: When folded, the front wheel support serves as a handle.
