Test 2015: Powermeter Stages XT
This affordable and lightweight power meter comes from Stages in the USA. Only a small, black box on the left crank arm sets the power meter apart from a Shimano XT crank.

The system weighs just eleven grams more than the standard crank. Installation is quick and the connection to the Garmin computer, which the system establishes via the ANT+ standard, also works in just a few seconds. The CR2032 battery lasted almost an entire racing season and can be replaced by the user. Stream crossings, mud baths and high-pressure cleaners did not harm the reliable system. Because Stages only measures on the left and doubles the value, the values are only correct if the legs are equally strong. Five crank models are available.

PLUS Simple battery replacement, reliable function
MINUS Only measures on one side, therefore less accurate than double-sided systems
