Trail bike Trek Top Fuel 8 on test
The newly revised down-country bike starts the test with a handicap. This is because the Top Fuel is the only bike on test with an aluminium chassis.

As a result, the Trek lags behind the test group average by 965 grams in terms of frame weight alone. Together with the chubby enduro tyres from Bontrager, our laboratory scales only settle at 14.4 kilos without pedals. With this value, the Top Fuel is already on a par with enduro bikes in the same price range. Speaking of enduro bikes: with its 66.3 degree head angle and long reach, the Trek can easily cruise through high-speed sections.

Conclusion on the Trek Top Fuel 8

Max Fuchs, BIKE Editor: The Top Fuel has its strengths downhill and exudes more of an enduro feeling than trail bike flair. Due to its high weight in particular, the aluminium Fuel is the least able to meet the demands of an all-rounder.

Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in BIKE. We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them, namely tens of thousands of euros every year.
