As a true sports bike, the Transition relies on a lightweight Rockshox chassis with SID fork and minimalist shock.

As a result, the Trek lags behind the test group average by 965 grams in terms of frame weight alone. Together with the chubby enduro tyres from Bontrager, our laboratory scales only settle at 14.4 kilos without pedals. With this value, the Top Fuel is already on a par with enduro bikes in the same price range. Speaking of enduro bikes: with its 66.3 degree head angle and long reach, the Trek can easily cruise through high-speed sections.

Conclusion on the Transition Spur Carbon GX:

Peter Nilges, BIKE Test Manager: With its sporty, firm Rockshox SID suspension, the Spur is very race orientated and somewhat limited on the descents. However, there is definitely a lot more potential in the geometry and equipment.
