Stoic: Inexpensive trail hardtail for young shredders
With the new Stoic, Canyon is launching a robust trail hardtail for between 800 and 1700 euros and aims to inspire beginners and young bikers in particular.

Although fullys with their suspension rear triangles are the technically superior concept for off-road cyclists, there are three universal reasons why MTB hardtails will never die out. Firstly: Hardtails are cheaper to buy and maintain. Secondly, hardtails are lighter than fullys at the same price and for the same range of use. Thirdly, with their low-tech approach, hardtails are not only particularly robust, but also easier to use for beginners. With its new Stoic fully utilises the natural strengths of hardtails and aims to inspire beginners and young bikers in particular.

Simple, robust and not too expensive: the Stoic is intended to be a bike for ambitious young bikers.

The focus on the young target group explains why the trail hardtail from the direct mail order company in Koblenz is also available in frame size XXS for particularly small riders. The frame sizes XXS, XS and S roll on small 27.5-inch wheelswhile all models from frame size M upwards with larger 29er wheels are designed for a smoother ride off-road. Canyon is launching three Stoic models for 2021. All 29er versions come with 140 mm suspension forks, while the 27.5 mm versions absorb shocks with 150 millimetres at the front. The long-travel suspension forks and the downhill-orientated tyres should also ensure fun on rough terrain. Canyon has released the Stoic's aluminium frame for the same range of use as its current enduro bikes, suggesting that this bike is not for you: You can't break this bike! The cheapest model - the Stoic 2 - for 799 euros weighs just under 15 kilos. The more expensive models for 1199 euros (Stoic 3) and the Stoic 4 for 1699 euros are lighter and even have a telescopic seat post.
