Rose Bikes comes into its own with the File Plus into the lightweight e-trail bike segment. The new model combines a carbon frame with the compact TQ HPR60 drive and, according to the manufacturer, hits the sweet spot between performance and riding fun. The clean look with clear lines and strong edges is a design statement that works, according to Rose. In addition to the somewhat outdated Power-E-MTB Root Miller PlusThe File Plus is the second full-suspension e-MTB in the direct mail order company's line-up after the File Plus, which impresses above all with its extremely fair prices (from €3499 for a lightweight full-carbon full suspension bike with Bosch CX motor! Rose has now added two new models with Shimano drivetrains to the product range. For the first time, the File Plus is also available with Fox suspension.

Drive and battery

The centrepiece of the File Plus is the TQ HPR 60 motor. The new edition of the whisper motor from Bavaria has improved in all respects. With an output of 350 watts and up to 60 Nm of torque, it is slightly more powerful than its predecessor, the HPR 50, but has not lost any of its strengths, namely its very quiet operation and natural, unobtrusive thrust.

In conjunction with the 580-cell battery - which is a lot by Light standards - the range is also really long and the bike is equipped for extended tours. The battery cannot simply be removed from the bike for charging or changing on tour. For additional range, the optional range extender with 160 Wh and a weight of just under one kilo can be fitted without tools. The new colour display from TQ is located in the top tube. Easy to read, stylishly integrated and with a good amount of information.

It is not surprising that Rose has opted for a drive from TQ. After all, the Bochholt-based company already has a lightweight e-hardtail with HPR 50 in its programme with the Bonero Plus. Click here for our detailed test of the Rose Bonero Plus carbon hardtail.

Frame and geometry

The carbon frame of the File Plus relies on 29-inch wheels and offers 140 mm travel at the rear. Rose combines this with 150 mm suspension forks. The geometry is based on modern trail bike standards. In size L, the reach is 485 mm, the chainstays measure 445 mm across all sizes. The steering angle can be varied between 64 and 65 degrees. These key data are intended to give the bike versatility in technical and demanding terrain.
