With a total weight of 13.5 kilos, there is no euphoria on the climbs, but the Skeen is still one of the lightest bikes. Touring riders particularly like the comfortable riding position. Downhill, the Skeen completely immerses itself in its element. The wide handlebar ensures direct handling, while the steering angle, which is slack for a 29er bike, makes for a smooth ride on fast sections of trail. However, the narrow 2.25 mm performance tyres from Schwalbe quickly reach their limit in demanding terrain and give away some of the potential of the otherwise successful trail bike. Both the fork and the rear suspension work linearly and thus provide a lot of comfort. On our first test bike, the rear suspension hit the seat tube when fully compressed (see also page 42). For this, points were deducted in the evaluation criterion of quality/workmanship. During the test, Radon sent us a new bike on which this defect no longer occurred. Even after extensive research on the internet and with Radon customers, there was no indication that this was a standard problem.
Conclusion: Successful trail bike with good equipment at an attractive price. The cheap tyres reduce the range of use.
The alternative: If you want to save some weight, you can buy the Skeen Trail 10.0 with identical equipment but with 27.5-inch wheels.
