Playful trail bike: Focus Jam² C 29
Visually, the slim, elegant carbon speedster wins the comparison hands down. The Focus Jam² is an agile and playful trail bike with a high fun factor.

Unfortunately, the top model was not yet available, so the 2000 euro cheaper Focus Jam² C 29 with SLX gears, favourable wheels and a simple fork. Like Cube, Focus also favours 29" front and rear wheels. You take a balanced and comfortable seat "in" the bike. The Jam² is extremely smooth on the climbs, offers good traction and sufficient comfort. It has very neutral, playful handling without rearing up on steep sections. You can feel the lowest weight in the test at all times. However, the Jam²'s victory on the scales is also due to the relatively small battery, which severely limits the reach. On the other hand, no bike rides as "normal" downhill as the Focus. It whizzes nimbly and dynamically through the trail and is a lot of fun to ride. At high speeds and on rough terrain, the damping of the fork reaches its limits.

Perfect battery integration: The frame of the Focus Jam² C 29 is slim, light and stiff. However, there is only room for a 378-watt battery in the down tube. With the optional second battery, the elegant look and the weight advantage are lost. Test summary of the Focus Jam² C 29

Agile and playful trail bike with a high fun factor. Slim, elegant look and low weight. Low reach height due to the small battery. A second battery can be fitted, but the look and handling advantages are then lost.
