NS Bikes is actually known for its downhill-orientated mountain bikes. Recently, it seems that the Poles have also discovered the endurance genre for themselves. With their new Synonym model, they are venturing into previously unknown territory. The new Synonym carbon frame is available either as a thoroughbred race fully with 100 millimetres of suspension travel or as a trail and touring bike with 120 millimetres of travel. The different suspension travels result from the installation of different shock absorbers.
However, the Poles can't quite detach themselves from the gravity background. The super-slack steering angle of 67 degrees for marathon bikes and the long reach of 500 millimetres (in size L) are clear relics from the enduro segment. The bottom bracket is slightly lower than usual and the wheelbase increases to a generous 1223 millimetres in size L. Despite the short suspension travel of just 100 millimetres, the downhill-oriented geometry is designed to provide a lot of riding fun on demanding trails. The long main frame is complemented by a short 80 millimetre stem. The riding position should be sporty. In terms of geometry data alone, the Synonym RC is similar to the BMC Fourstrokean extremely progressive race fully. It goes without saying that a telescopic seat post is indispensable for such an alignment. Unfortunately, we were unable to find out the weights of the complete bike or the frame at the Eurobike Media Days. However, hardcore racers can look forward to Fox suspension that can be completely locked out with a lever on the handlebars. From the beginning of December 2019, two complete Synonym RC bikes will be available for 4799 and 6999 euros.
The NS Synonym TR has the same carbon frame as the Synonym RC, but with a longer rear shock and a 120 mm fork to make it a trail bike. This lowers the head angle to 66 degrees and the reach in size L shrinks by new millimetres to 491 millimetres. The remaining geometry data remains similar to that of the smaller RC brother. However, a heavily offset handlebar and an even shorter 60 mm stem ensure a more upright riding position on the TR version. The suspension, which can be locked from the handlebars, is also available for touring riders. Like the Synonym RC, the Synonym TR will also be available in frame sizes S, M, L and XL from December 2019. There will be two complete bikes for 4699 and 5999 euros.
