It's no secret that bikes are becoming ever more potent downhill, but also ever heavier. Anyone looking for a lightweight touring fully today often has to spend a lot of money and even then there is no guarantee. Even high-end trail bikes from the relevant American manufacturers for almost five-figure sums often barely break the 12-kilo mark.
Not so with Stoll: although the bikes from the company of former racing cyclist Thomas Stoll are no bargains, the Swiss company offers really light bikes with frames made by Bike Ahead in Würzburg and customised equipment. Especially the 11.3-kilogram, 140-millimetre Stoll T1 trail bike hit like a bomb when it was launched in 2017 and proved in our L
time test over almost 6000 kilometres its durability.
Stoll is now presenting the second expansion stage of its full-suspension platform, which still looks similar to its predecessor, but has been revised in some important details. According to Stoll, the new frame is a whopping 300 grams lighter, but twelve per cent stiffer. In addition, the kinematics of the rear triangle have been revised for an even finer response, as has the geometry, which is a little more modern for 2021 with flatter steering, steeper seat angles and a longer reach.
As before, the Stoll-Fully will be available in a trail version (T2) with 140 millimetres of suspension travel from 10.5 kilograms* and in a marathon version (M2) with 120 millimetres of suspension travel from 9.1 kilograms*. For racers, there is also the special version M2 World Cup (from 8.9 kilograms*), which only offers 100 millimetres of suspension travel and is therefore designed to sprint over the trails even more sportily. All bikes are only available in the highest quality equipment configurations from around 8200 euros.
