With the Top Fuel 8, we have already been able to test the most expensive aluminium version of the 120-millimetre bike. The first surprise: compared to last year, the model costs exactly 1000 euros more. That's a hefty surcharge. On the other hand, the equipment is of higher quality throughout. Instead of a Rockshox Recon Gold, there is now a SID RL in the head tube. The gears are no longer shifted with Sram's affordable NX drivetrain, but with a Shimano XT. There are also higher quality brakes on top.
The test costs 0.99 euros. Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the tests in BIKE. We don't pay for them, but the opposite is the case: we charge for them, hundreds of thousands of euros every year.
