Lowered: Scott eGenius 700 Tuned on test
From 2018, the Scott E-Genius will be available with a revised Shimano motor and integrated battery. With factory suspension elements and extra-stable 2.8 mm tyres, the bike is well equipped.

A chip in the rear triangle of the Scott eGenius allows the geometry to be adapted for 29" wheels. With the massive down tube, it looks like a lowered race car - and the impression is not deceptive: the bottom bracket is lower than on any other bike in the comparison. Since Scott still uses a 175 mm long crank, the E-Genius was severely limited on our test track uphill. Permanent crank bob on the singletrack spoilt the otherwise balanced overall impression. Even with the geo set to 29", this didn't improve and cost a lot of points in the uphill classification. Too bad, because the bike is a safe bet on the downhills. Due to the massive battery down tube, it is not really agile, but it rides safely and has very good traction thanks to the top suspension. The stable tyres also pay off twice over with great traction and high puncture resistance.

Test summary of the Scott eGenius 700 Tuned

The overall balanced Scott eGenius suffers from the combination of a very low bottom bracket and (too) long cranks on the climbs. Downhill it is very balanced and safe.
