With its feminine curves on the down tube and top tube, the Liv belies the fact that it is already a decidedly downhill-orientated all-mountain bike.

Its playground begins in really rough, high alpine terrain, where it can fully utilise its trump cards such as 160 millimetres of travel, high cockpit and super-smooth shock. Thanks to the lightweight frame and good uphill performance, you can even crank the bike over the tree line under your own steam. The low step-through on the top tube offers a lot of freedom of movement when manoeuvring, but on winding forest trails, the 1.60 metre riders noticed a slight lack of manoeuvrability - which was due to the rather slack head angle, the long wheelbase and the frame size, which was a little too big for them.

Gitta Beimfohr, BIKE editor: According to the manufacturer, it's the perfect bike for aggressive trail bikers - and we agree. Great feature: the Pike fork can be shortened to 140 millimetres for uphill riding.
