The Conway MT 827+ represents the up-and-coming genre of trail-oriented fun bikes with 2.8 inch wide plus tyres, downhill-oriented geometry and a 140 mm fork. With its sporty riding position, low front and rigid rear, the plus hardtail can keep up with the best fullys on the climbs. Only the heavy wheels (5034 grams) hinder the forward momentum, and the hard saddle and chunky tubes mean that riding comfort falls somewhat by the wayside. And the knobbly tyres? "Roll surprisingly well", note our reader testers. On descents, the Conway's confident handling leaves nothing to be desired. When the trail gets rough, the good fork is on hand and the Guide-R stoppers with 200 mm discs at the front decelerate with confidence. Admittedly, the rear suspension then really hits its stride and the rider has to work harder than on a fully. Nevertheless, the riding fun does not fall by the wayside.
