Under the dictation of two-time Olympic champion Julien Absalon, the Fourstroke lived up to its name. Tried and tested on the toughest race tracks, the Race-Fully has so far fulfilled the dreams of performance-orientated bikers.
In order to meet the trend for lightweight trail bikes with less suspension travel in the 2021 model year, the Swiss company has added two more potent long-travel variants to its thoroughbred racing machine. Equipped with 120 millimetres of suspension travel at the rear and front, a fully integrated dropper post and 2.4-inch-wide tyres, the range of use extends far beyond the barriers of the race track.
But the fun comes at a price. BMC charges a whole 5999 euros for the Fourstroke 01 LT Two. If you buy the top model, you can even lighten your savings account by 7999 euros. The price range of the three Fourstroke models with 100 millimetres of suspension travel extends from 4999 euros to 9999 euros. The frameset is available for 3999 euros.
The Fourstroke frame remains the same. Only the suspension travel increases from 100 millimetres on the thoroughbred racer to 120 millimetres. Under the headset is a 120 millimetre suspension fork from Fox with massive 34 mm stanchions. The chunky, 2.4-inch wide Maxxis Rekon tyres, the Vario seat post with 80 millimetres of travel already integrated into the seat tube and the wider handlebars are intended to give BMC's latest addition to the downhill trail bike range a trail bike character.
Nevertheless, the bulkier setup in no way disguises the race genes of the original racing machine. The stated total weight of 11.1 kilos for the top model should give you that pure racing feeling on extended trail tours or marathons.
The geometry of the newcomer is also trend-conscious. With a 66.6 degree steering angle, the LT version should be pleasantly easy to steer through the terrain. A 75.6 degree steep seat angle promises a pronounced forward thrust and plenty of pressure on the front wheel on steep climbs.
According to the manufacturer, the top model weighs 11.1 kilos. For 7999 euros, the BMC Fourstroke LT 01 One comes with Fox suspension consisting of a Float 34 fork and the matching Float shock, both in the Performance Elite version. The RAD dropper post from BMC is elegantly integrated into the seat tube and offers 80 millimetres of travel. Gears are shifted with Sram Eagle components from GX (shifter) to XX1 (rear derailleur). For the wheelset, the developers rely on the Mavic Crossmax Carbon XLR with 30 millimetre rim width.
The Swiss company has also equipped the € 2000 cheaper Fourstroke 01 LT Two with high-quality Fox suspension. The gears are again from Sram's GX range. The expensive carbon wheels from Mavic make way for a set of DT Swiss M1900 wheels. Weight specified by the manufacturer: 11.9 kilograms.
