The handling stands and falls with the cockpit, and here the Habit meets the taste of the test riders exactly. A 770 millimetre wide handlebar and a 65 mm stem manoeuvre the Cannondale through the trail with precision and control. The harmonious suspension with the in-house Lefty fork does its job inconspicuously and contributes to the good overall impression. However, with a total weight of 14 kilos, the Cannondale clearly marks the upper end of the test field. Due to the excess weight, it loses some of its playfulness, both downhill and uphill, and makes the occasional marathon use a distant prospect. The Americans also skimp on the equipment and fit a Deore/SLX 10-speed groupset and cheap performance tyres. The Habit can only really show off its strengths in the more expensive carbon versions.
ConclusionThe Habit impresses with solid performance on the trail. The weight and features are not competitive.
The alternative: If Cannondale, then with carbon! If you can sign this sentence, then the fun begins for you with the Habit Carbon 3 for 3499 euros. But it's still missing the dropper post ...
