The BMC Speefox 01 is reliable and well thought out down to the last detail - what else would you expect from a Swiss bike? The trail bike in the comparison test.

The BMC Speedfox 01 performed confidently on our ride through the trail parks, but at 7000 euros it is also well above the budget of the test group. Thanks to the long chainstays, the 29er is very stable and composed on demanding terrain. The playfulness could be a little bigger. The bike is high in its travel, allowing sporty riders to let it fly on rough trails, but the BMC is not a comfort miracle. The symbiosis of trail fun and climbing ability is a success, because the BMC also scores points on the climbs. Not least thanks to the Trailsync system: the seat post is linked to the shock platform, the shock hardens when the post is extended and the platform is open when the saddle is lowered. This means that the shock and seat post are operated with just one lever. In uphill mode, the rear triangle remains active without bobbing. The equipment is trimmed for the trail and is harmonious, but considering the price, it won't generate any storms of enthusiasm.

Test summary of the BMC Speedfox 01

Sporty all-round bike with top detail solutions, well thought-out frame and balanced handling. Perfect for long tours with challenging descents.

The alternative: The Speedfox 02 with aluminium rear triangle also has the Trailsync seatpost from € 3999. There are compromises in the equipment.
