BMC presents the downhill-orientated Trailfox AMP version
The new BMC Trailfox AMP SX is based on the familiar main frame of the "normal" Trailfox AMP, but is significantly more robust and more downhill orientated.

Just over a year after the Presentation of the BMC Trailfox AMP the Swiss are following up with a more downhill-orientated version: The BMC Trailfox AMP SX uses the same main frame but has customised equipment. The carbon frame conceals a Shimano Steps drive unit in the voluminous down tube and is available in three sizes: S, M and L. The aluminium rear triangle elicits 150 millimetres of suspension travel from the Fox DPX2 shock.

BMC has fitted a 170 mm Fox 36 fork to the SX version. This means that the head angle has been slackened by one degree to 65 degrees and the bottom bracket has been raised slightly. The chainstays still measure a respectable 445 millimetres and the reach in L is a modern 469 millimetres. For more control, the Swiss have fitted a massive 35 mm Renthal Fatbar handlebar and powerful Magura MT7 stoppers with 200 mm discs.

As you have no doubt already read in one or two of our test reports, we often criticise the undersized tyres on e-mountainbikes. After all, the most powerful suspension is of little use if you have to change the inner tube every hundred metres. BMC has taken our criticism to heart and uses 2.5-inch wide Vittoria downhill tyres with a reinforced casing on the SX. Flat tyres should only rarely spoil the fun.
