The power of habit is strong - and prevents many a beautiful moment. Generations of bikers have made the pilgrimage to Lake Garda or Finale Ligure. And they do it again and again. Sure, the path to Tremalzo is a dream, Mary will give you a warm welcome in the Mecki Bar, gelati and espressos at Flora taste fantastic, and you can always rely on the pizza at Bavaria. People are creatures of habit and like to know what to expect. It's no different for us: load up the test bikes, head off over the burner and complete the tried and tested test lap. For this test of eight E-MTB all-rounders, however, we broke our established patterns: instead of Road to Riva, a road trip to bike regions unknown to us. And one thing's for sure: it was worth it.
Our companions: eight current e-mountainbikes with around 150 millimetres of suspension travel and aluminium frames, divided into two price groups. Around 4300 euros and around 5500 euros. Which models perform best on rough trails and which on built flow trails? And: Is riding fun really a question of price? In the price-performance class: Canyon's Spectral:On 7.0, which is known for its powerful equipment. The Ghost SL AMR X S 3.7, whose larger and more expensive brother with a carbon frame impressed us in several tests. And the Giant Trance E+ 2 Pro with Yamaha drive. Particularly exciting in the 5500 euro category: Can the highly decorated and much-praised Specialized Levo, which is known not to be one of the bargains on the market, also shine in this price range and with an aluminium frame?
