Our great west-east traverse through the Bavarian Alps leads in seven stages from Forggensee via Schliersee and Chiemsee to Königssee.

The region

It doesn't always have to be the classic transalpine routes from north to south. With its well-developed mountains, glistening lakes, bubbling streams and cool pools, the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps is perfect for multi-day, summer e-bike tours. Choosing a route in a west-east direction is not always easy, as many mountain ridges run parallel and longer routes on the ridges are usually not possible. Nevertheless, exciting routes can be planned with a little imagination. As there are still no clear mountain bike concepts with corresponding trail routes in most areas along the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps, bikers and hikers should show consideration for each other on all routes. A riding style that is gentle on the ground, stopping at narrow sections, diplomatically giving way to the other person and saying a friendly "Griaß' di" is always better than a "Obacht, jetzt komm' i!". After all, everyone wants just one thing: to enjoy the mountains. To make the enjoyment perfect, a second battery should definitely be on your bike or in your rucksack.

The German Alpine strip between Schliersee and Berchtesgaden is narrow and mostly steep. The paths along the mountain ridges are often blocked and in some areas should be reserved for those who are travelling on foot. Nevertheless, the route offers enjoyable trails and many scenic highlights, such as the area around the Soinsee (stage 1), the Hochfelln (stage 2) and around the Kührointalm at the foot of the Watzmann (stage 3). In between, the tour takes in countless lakes and streams to show that Upper Bavaria has many more fascinating spots to offer than just peaks under a white-blue sky.
