Bad bike guides, bitchy hotels and trails you can't find: these are the ingredients you can confidently do without on a bike holiday.
Holiday, the. Noun, masculine. Meaning: (in companies, authorities, the military, counted by working days) time off duty or work that someone receives [for the purpose of recreation].

What the dictionary so matter-of-factly summarises is probably the best time of the year for many of us. All the burdens of everyday life are lifted from us and, ideally, we have to search for the cheat sheets for our passwords when we start work. Anyone who has ever had a really carefree holiday knows what we're talking about.

However, a lot can go wrong, especially on a biking holiday, and there is often no trace of light-heartedness. A good biking holiday depends on the quality of the tours and the people you're out with. If a bike guide in a 90s lycra outfit confuses gravel paths with cream trails and mistakes an enduro for a motocross machine, something is wrong. The same applies to the tours. If they're lousy, you're left with a bitter aftertaste. On the other hand, if they and the guide are good, you will savour the good experiences for a long time to come.

In their latest video, Tom Malecha and the Bike-Hotels Südtirol show in a humorous way what you shouldn't do on a biking holiday and get to the heart of how little it actually takes for bikers to be satisfied.
