How to pack your bike correctly
If you want to cycle in the heat, you have to fly. One problem: fully equipped touring bikes do not fit into standard transport cases. Our packing alternative has proven itself on many TREKKINGBIKE trips.

A good bike is expensive, and so is any transport damage. And some of them can ruin your cycling holiday: Where in your holiday destination can you get a replacement for a broken derailleur hanger or a broken hydraulic brake lever? If you don't want to risk this, organise a dodgy rental bike in advance - or pack your own bike properly. Almost all airlines now require bikes to be packed. But the large complete bike boxes are bulky, the bike cases for racing bikes are expensive and too small. And where to put it at your destination? The packing method presented here works with small bike boxes or plenty of cardboard from the supermarket, costs little and has protected our bikes on several journeys. Complaints from the airlines? Damage? None so far.
