"Emsland Route" is the name of the new compact bikeline cycle tour book. Starting in Meppen, it covers 300 kilometres through one of the most beautiful cycling regions that Germany has to offer. What makes the tour so special is the idyllic ambience of the Ems region. In addition to forests, lakes and meadows, you can observe a wide variety of animals as you cycle through the greenery. Towns such as Papenburg with its Fehn canals and colonies or Meppen on the Ems-Hase estuary and smaller towns such as Heede with its 1,000-year-old lime tree are also worth a visit as you pass by.
If you are a cyclist with little time and have only planned the weekend for a cycle tour, the cycle tour can be divided into two smaller circular tours along the River Hase and via Haselünne. An east and west route is also possible between Rheine and Papenburg.
In its last issue, the ADFC named the Osnabrücker Land - Emsland - Grafschaft Bentheim region as the "most visited by cyclists". The Emsland route that runs through here has certainly played its part in this. The conditions for cyclists are pure comfort: hardly any inclines, a well-travelled surface and continuous signposting leave little to be desired.
An additional advantage of the whole trip is that it can be done completely without a car. The bike and the train are the only (environmentally friendly) means of transport you need. There are also other railway stations along the route in case you want to organise the tour differently. For spontaneous cyclists, Deutsche Bahn is offering a discounted rate for bike transport until 30 September 2022.
The cycle tour book is designed as a square pocket book format with its maps and details for planning before the cycle tour as well as during the journey. This format makes it possible to "stow" the open copy in the handlebar bag in such a way that the topographical route maps are clearly visible at the same time. Together with the included city maps, these inform the cyclist about the route itself and its points of interest. In addition, a GPS track for downloading as well as an altitude and route profile supplement each section of the route. To make planning your cycle tour perfect, the cycle tour book includes a list of accommodation and cycle services. And to ensure you are always up to date, you should use the bikeline live update to find out about accommodation news and route changes.
The cycle tour book is available now for 9.90 euros.
