The best MTB bike carriers for the hitch from Atera, Thule and Uebler in the BIKE test. Read why towbar carriers can be an alternative to roof transport.

There are many reasons for transporting your bike on a towbar carrier: simple installation, no dirt in the interior, hardly any additional consumption, easy loading - provided you have a car with a towbar. Here are the three best carriers from our test:

Atera Strada Sport M2 The Atera impresses with its safe and simple handling and its weight of just 14 kilos. Easy to fold down using the foot pedal. Price: around 300 euros on the web.

Thule Easy Fold 931 Very practical - because it folds up - towbar carrier for two bikes. The Easy Fold impresses with its simple assembly and small pack size. Weighing around 17 kilos, it can just about be assembled on its own. Carrier and bikes are lockable. Price: around 500 euros on the Internet.

Uebler X21 Nano The Uebler is very compact and light (13 kilos), but somewhat more expensive. In return, it has a high-quality finish. 2.4 inch wide tyres just fit into the rails. Price: available online for around 520 euros.
