The table helps to optimise both the total number of calories and the nutrient distribution in carbohydrates (CH), protein (PRO) and fat (F) for the respective trip. The information on the respective food in the far left column comes from the packaging and is a guide.
An example:
On a ten-day, strenuous tour, the participants calculate a daily calorie consumption of 4,000 per person and would like to obtain half of these calories from carbohydrates and a quarter each from fat and protein. To do this, they consider which of the foods listed are suitable for them and enter in the fifth column (weight) how much of each product they would like to take with them. The table is programmed in such a way that it calculates the total calories and their composition immediately after the entry in the bottom line.
Try it out, for example with "5 kilos of bacon"! Our table doesn't say whether something is healthy or tastes good - but it quickly makes it clear what could be missing. Experience shows that at least one kilo of food per day is realistic on sporting tours.
