The two bike buddies Danny MacAskill and Claudio Caluori experienced just such a tour in the film "Home of Trails", on which they discovered the best trails in Graubünden. Now they reveal exactly where they were travelling.
With almost 1000 peaks, 615 lakes and 150 valleys, it's easy to lose track in Graubünden. To find out which trails the Trick King and the Edelweiss expert rode in the "Home of Trails" video in Arosa Lenzerheide, Flims, Engadin St. Moritz, Davos Klosters and Scuol Samnaun Val Müstair, there is now a treasure map at www.homeoftrails.com. With its help, bikers can discover Graubünden on their own in the footsteps of the two cracks. Below is a selection of the most beautiful spots and trails from the video:
Graubünden can proudly call itself the "Home of Trails". No other Alpine region has so many trails in such a small area. Danny MacAskill and Claudio Caluori have followed their call and captured their adventures in the film "Home of Trails". Would you like to follow in the footsteps of the two mountain bike pros and discover the trails and spots from the video?
House in Müstair
There are few people who, like Danny MacAskill, get the idea of using the sloping wooden roof in the small mountain village of Müstair as a ramp for a front flip on their mountain bike. But even without acrobatic ambitions, the village is worth a visit. Three tours lead past this spot from the film. If around 22 kilometres and 1,200 metres of descent appeal to you, then the tours "Tras la Val Müstair on Singletrail" and "Alp Tabladatsch" are two insider tips. For those who prefer a more challenging ride, the "Passo Gallo" tour is the perfect choice.
Advance glacier
Danny and Claudio raced against each other on the Vorab Glacier high above Flims. The landscape, formed over thousands of years by ice and water, is a true work of natural art. Two longer tours lead past the glacier. A flow highlight is also hidden in this destination: the "Green Valley" trail is a 1.8 kilometre long single trail criss-crossed by roots.
Piz Nair and Corviglia
Two key scenes in the video take place in the Engadin St. Moritz destination. At the beginning: the sunrise on the summit of Piz Nair, where Danny lets his gaze wander over Graubünden. Several trails lead to the summit at over 3000 metres above sea level: "Piz Nair-Val Bever-Celerina", "Piz Nair via 3 Fluors to Samedan" and "Piz Nair-Val Schlattain-Chantarella" offer plenty of technical descents. Another scene in the "Home of Trails" video is a little more flowy. Namely on the "Corviglia Flowtrail". The trail, on which Caluori found an edelweiss, was described by MacAskill as "an endless ride on a flying carpet".
Jakobshorn
In Davos Klosters, the Jakobshorn is the starting point for numerous trails. These include the "Alps Epic Trail Davos", which has been recognised by the IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association). If you set off on this 40-kilometre trail from the Jakobshorn, you can enjoy 2400 metres of descent. Once you arrive at Wiesen station, it is only a stone's throw to the famous bridge on which Danny demonstrated his balancing skills at a height of 84 metres. It is not recommended to imitate the Scotsman. Instead, it's better to enjoy the view of the gorge and the upcoming trail sections from a safe distance.
Alpine hut Fops
Danny and Claudio treated themselves to refreshments on the terrace of the Fops Alpine hut in Lenzerheide before the Scottish bike star jumped off the terrace with a "270 tyre tap". In addition to the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in September, Arosa Lenzerheide also offers a touring highlight: the "Biketicket 2 RIDE black" features almost 700 metres of ascent and 6500 metres of descent. Both this tour and the "603 Alps" tour take you past Alp Fops.
