Switzerland: Monte Rosa MTB tour
Five days, six passes and almost 10,000 metres of downhill fun: the circumnavigation of the Monte Rosa massif is a high alpine enduro tour with challenging trails and an incomparable panorama.

The best thing about the Monte Rosa tour is that you never lose sight of the famous massif, which is the second highest in the Alps after Mont Blanc. Every day you get a new view of this glacier giant. However, the stakes are high: shortly after the start in Saas Grund, the first long carrying passage up to the Monte Moro Pass awaits. On the next day through the Quarazza day, you also wonder why you actually have the bike with you. If it wasn't for this spectacular landscape and these skilfully laid out Walser trails, you could despair. But by the time you reach Alagna, you'll have forgotten all the hardships. From here onwards, lifts help you uphill and the trails wind so wonderfully down the mountain flanks that advanced riders can hardly believe their luck. And there's even more drama: on the fourth day, you fight your way up the last big climb to the Theodulhütte (3340 m), enjoying the panorama of the glaciated splendour of the Monte Rosa massif and the Matterhorn, before finally surfing down over the glacier to Zermatt early in the morning on the last day. In total: 120 kilometres, 9579 metres of ascent (of which approx. 4000 metres with the lift) and 9521 metres of descent in 5 stages.

You can find these five stages and the GPS data for this tough high mountain tour in the free download below:
