How do you fit four kilometres of trail into 400 metres of altitude? By wrapping it as close as possible to the mountain flank. The trail builders on the St. Moritz Corviglia cable car have masterfully solved this problem.

Alpine meadows in bloom - beautiful, yes. Grandiose mountain panoramas - of course, because we're in the Engadin mountains and you'd expect something like that. And of course there are "endless single trails" meandering around here. Great. But that's not enough for me. As a downhiller, you do have certain expectations. A nice hiking trail with a mountain panorama just doesn't get the endorphins flowing. After all, I'd rather sit on a rollercoaster than a Ferris wheel at a funfair.

But I have to admit that what we found here in the Engadin the other day is even better than riding a rollercoaster. Rarely have I had a trail under my wheels that is so smooth and doesn't lose its flow until the end. Endless, perfectly shaped curves, berms, tables and doubles lead over 400 metres in altitude and yet a whole four kilometres of trail into the valley. An oversized pump track that is so perfectly integrated into nature, it's as if nothing else had ever existed here before. The start leads directly from the Corviglia mountain station straight down through alpine pastureland at the edge of the ski slope into a sinkhole area.
