Start of the season in Lenzerheide: What's on in the Bike Kingdom in 2022

The Opening of the Bike Kingdom Park in Lenzerheide will take place on Ascension Day weekend from 26 to 28 May 2022 takes place. From 4 June 2022 starts the Rothorn 1 gondola lift in daily operation. The planned opening times depend on the weather and snow conditions. An up-to-date overview and tour suggestions can be viewed online at any time at bikekingdom.ch can be called up.

Update Rothorn: New gondolas, less waiting time

Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG has invested around half a million euros in new gondolas for the Rothorn 1 gondola lift in order to maximise transport capacity and reduce waiting times at the valley station by around 20 percent. This means for all die-hard bike park riders: More journeys per day!

10 years of the bike park in Lenzerheide

Ten years ago, the idea of a bike park on the Rothorn in Lenzerheide was realised with the help of British downhill legend Steve Peat. The basic structure of the bike park, which opened under the name "Lenzerheide Bikepark", still exists today.

The organisers of the Bike Kingdom have come up with some great ideas for the anniversary year: There is a New jumpline with three different levels of difficulty. Thanks to mobile ramps, wood carving landings and airbags, beginners and pros can try out the trick jumps, although the biggest jump, at three metres high, is definitely not for amateurs.

Events from World Cup to Kids Cup

This year's summer event calendar is packed full. It starts right at the beginning of the season with the Bike Kingdom Gameswith the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup from 8 to 10 July. This is the 7th time that the world's mountain biking elite will meet in Lenzerheide. The programme includes World Cup races in the disciplines of Cross-Country Short Track (XCC), Downhill (DHI) and Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) as well as a variety of side events for the expected 20,000 visitors.

There are other races, albeit not at World Cup level, at the Bike Kingdom Kids Cup from June to October, which will take place for the second time in the coming season. This is a three-part junior racing series in the downhill discipline, which emphasises fun and introduces the kids to racing slowly and gradually. This will be followed by further events such as the Bike Kingdom Feast from 19 to 21 August 2022 or the testRIDE from 9 to 11 September 2022. Hörnli trail hunt or the Family Bike Vibes a lot going on.
