It goes without saying that the operators of the bike park around the Rothorn valley station have come up with plenty of attractions and new features for their milestone birthday. The Shape Crew has been busy since the beginning of May preparing the Bike Kingdom Park Lenzerheide to get it in shape. Unlike in previous years, shovelling snow was not a major issue due to the warm temperatures. As a result, the various trails are well maintained, some have been extended and many new obstacles have been added for the start of the season.
With its various downhill routes, the Bike Kingdom Park offers the right line for every level: From the blue FLOWline with easy berms and tables for bike park newcomers, to the challenging PRIMEline with medium to large features and the GRIZZLYline variant, which was inaugurated in summer 2021, to the STYLE and SHOREline, which were rebuilt last year and also equipped with new elements, the bike park on the Rothorn not only brings a real Canadian and Northshore feeling, but also puts a big grin on the faces of its bike guests.
The STRAIGHTline is a classic downhill course with many high-speed sections and technical challenges, making it the most difficult. It is also the venue for the Bike Kingdom Games with the Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup from 8 to 10 July 2022. Another section will be added to the STRAIGHTline for the downhill race in the coming weeks. The same applies to the FLOWline and the PRIMEline, which will also be given a facelift this summer. The new BIG DAISY trick jump at the Rothorn valley station is ready for action for the main season. The jumps with two levels of difficulty - the higher jump is a whopping 3.20 metres high - promise plenty of thrills. Thanks to an additional kicker at the landing bag, beginners can also try out the trick jumps alongside the pros.
In addition to the new features in the park, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG has also invested in the railway infrastructure. New additional gondolas increase the transport capacity of the feeder to the Bike Kingdom Park by a whopping 20 per cent, which reduces waiting times accordingly - especially on peak days. The valley station has also been remodelled, further improving access to the gondolas.
The idea of a bike park on the Rothorn in Lenzerheide was realised ten years ago with the help of British downhill legend Steve Peat. The basic structure of the bike park, which opened under the name "Lenzerheide Bikepark", still exists today and has developed into a hotspot in the alpine bike park scene in the years since. For the anniversary year, various activities are planned in the Bike Kingdom Park as part of the "Late Shred".
In the main season from 15 July to 14 August 2022, the Bike Kingdom Park is open daily until 9 p.m.
During this time, smaller events such as concerts, parties, jump shows and workshops will take place. The first dates have already been finalised:
Bike park fans with an annual pass or a TOPCARD benefit from the "Late Shred" upgrade free of charge. For all other bikers, a "Late Shred" ticket is available for CHF 28.00 in the webshop at bikekingdom.ch available.
In addition to the Rothorn 1 gondola lift, the Heidbüel panoramic lift will also start the new season with weekend and public holiday operations from Thursday, 26 May 2022. Just one weekend later, from Saturday, 4 June 2022, the Rothorn 1 gondola lift and the Tgantieni and Scalottas chairlifts will be operating daily. The entire Bike Kingdom will be open daily from Saturday, 2 July 2022.
