Hardly any other canton in Switzerland has such a dense network of bike trails as Graubünden. In the Davos and Lenzerheide regions in particular, you can let off steam for days on countless kilometres. But not only on bike park lines, but also on epic backcountry trails through the Swiss high mountainsWestside Tour, Darkside of the Moon, Älplisee Trail, Chörbschhorn, Alps Epic Trail on Jakobshorn - the list of long super trail descents that you wanted to ride in Davos and Lenzerheide anyway is long.
You can now tick off these trails in three days at the end of August on the legendary Grischa Trail Ride. The aim here is to reach three stage locations on a route you have created yourself, which includes as many trail kilometres as possible. You have six hours a day to do this and can use any cable car as a climbing aid along the way.
At the riders' meeting on the evening before the event, the teams receive a map showing all the trails that can be ridden, including the cable car ascents between the stage locations. This allows them to think about the route in advance and work out the cleverest possible trail combination. The teams are equipped with a tracker so that they can measure exactly how many kilometres of trails they have actually ridden within the six hours.
Team spirit: A minimum of two and a maximum of five people may register as a team. One of them should be skilful at reading maps, because: In Davos in particular, the trails do not always start directly at the cable car. At the summit stations, there are usually a few more metres in altitude before the trail starts. Sometimes they can be ridden, sometimes only pushed. However, there are also trails that include energy-sapping climbs along the way, but are particularly long.
It is therefore important to weigh up whether the ascent is worthwhile in terms of time and how much energy it will cost. Waiting times at the cable car can also be longer than you might expect at certain times of the day. In any case, it is advisable to travel with a team that is at roughly the same level in terms of fitness and riding technique and has the same sense of adventure. This way you will have the most fun on the road and can enjoy the trails accordingly.
Participation fee per person: 270 Swiss francs / approx. 290 euros.
