Fairtrail - bikers and hikers on the trail
With the "Fairtrail" campaign, Graubünden is promoting tolerance and a relaxed coexistence of bikers and hikers on the trails and hiking paths in Graubünden.

The charm offensive gets by without a warning finger. "Fairtrail" relies on likeable self-irony and a healthy dose of Graubünden humour.

Graubünden - the home of trails - offers nature as far as the eye can see and no less than eleven thousand kilometres of marked hiking trails. In the past, almost everyone travelled these trails on foot. Then came more and more mountain bikers - and they too can enjoy the hiking trails and the experience of nature in Graubünden. And in contrast to many other regions around the world - quite officially. If hikers and bikers treat each other with consideration and respect, this is not a problem. In Graubünden, there is a new word for this: Fairtrail!

Tourist campaign for more tolerance

As part of the "Fairtrail" campaign, bikers and hikers are to be encouraged by various means to treat each other with respect and fairness on shared trails. A brochure draws attention to the special conditions in Graubünden and presents the basic rule of behaviour "nice, clean and ready!". Special postcards show how to get along in a humorous and ironic way. Small give-aways such as "Fairtrail" stickers, buttons and bike bells are intended to sensitise the various target groups
