Endless ridge ride on Monte Tamaro
In the centre of Ticino you will find one of the longest and loneliest trails in Switzerland. You can also take advantage of the cable car support. The challenging descent to Lake Lugano saps your energy.

The long mountain ridge of Monte Tamaro stretches like a fortress between Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano through southern Ticino. A hiking trail winds along its almost 2000 metre high ridge all the way to Monte Lema. An adventurous trail, with lake and mountain views on both sides. "That would have been your prize," you think to yourself as you look back from here to Alpe Foppa, where the crowds are bustling around on a kind of fairground with a toboggan run, rope park and flying fox. But we are glad that all the tourists stay over there or only march up to the summit - so we don't have to share what lies ahead with them: a real treasure trove for trail lovers.

You can find the Monte Tamaro Supertrail in EMTB 4/2020. The PDF of the article is available in the download area below. In it you will find the EMTB web code that leads you to the free download of the GPS data.

It gets lonely from here: a scree path branches off to the left shortly before the Tamaro summit and initially hugs the mountain flank.
