Of course, mountain bikers know what a paradise Graubünden is. You know about the welcoming culture for two-wheelers, the many fine trails and the many fine dishes such as maluns and capuns. We know about Davos Klosters, Val Poschiavo behind the Bernina Pass, Arosa Lenzerheide and Flims Laax. But who thinks of Scuol? Where is it even located? And how do you pronounce it? I'll tell you: Nobody thinks of Scuol - and that's both a drama and a stroke of luck. Scuol is beautifully situated in the Lower Engadine. A rather narrow valley between the Vinschgau in the east and the Prättigau in the west. It borders Val Müstair to the south and the Silvretta peaks to the north, which form the border with the Tyrolean Paznaun Valley. Incidentally, Scuol is pronounced in Rhaeto-Romanic, i.e.: Schkuol.
Down in the village, at an altitude of 1099 metres, the still glacier-cooled Inn (which gives the Engadin its name) foams, while the 3000-metre peaks stand in rows at the top - in between, a network of trails unfolds that will rob us e-mountain bikers of our wits and batteries. One of these trails leads from Motta Naluns via Alp Laret into Val Tasna.
