The still relatively unknown bike park in Chur was created on the initiative of a bike club and boasts a high density of stunt features.

The Brambrüesch cable car starts in the middle of the town and lifts its visitors in a large gondola lift to an altitude of 1170 metres. From there, a passenger gondola takes you up to 1595 metres. Two freeride lines lead to the middle station (400 metres altitude). Both routes run mainly through the forest and are peppered with stunts. Although these features have been generously scattered on both routes - which is particularly pleasing for stunt freeriders - they often seem homemade and are aimed more at advanced riders and experts. Jumps and landings should be inspected beforehand. We hardly saw any markings or warning signs during our visit. The Swiss Downhill Championships were held on the downhill course in 2009. The descent is steep, bumpy and challenging. This year, a beginner-friendly route is to be opened to attract more bikers.

Conclusion Freeriders and downhillers are in the right place in Chur. Park newbies are better off in Flims, Laax or Lenzerheide (30 minutes away by car).

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
