40 super trails in the Alps
Epic trails for mountain bikers. The trails presented in the book 40 Supertrails in the Alps have achieved cult status because of their history, their length, their location or their outstanding terrain.

Mountain bike tours with cult status: 40 super trails in the Alps

Rocks, forests, streams, tight bends and magnificent landscapes - the flow trails and downhill routes in the Alps will make you happy. But which of the many trails should you definitely have ridden? Journalist Gitta Beimfohr and photographer Markus Greber present the 40 most legendary descents in the Alps:

  • Cult trails for mountain bikers in Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland
  • With a categorisation of fitness, riding technique, landscape and EMTB suitability
  • Elevation profiles, 3D maps and GPS data make it easier to plan your MTB tour
  • Information on travelling, accommodation and tips on where to stop for a bite to eat

Alpine trails that you have to ride!

For example, do you know the trail with the beautiful name "The Brazilian", a never-ending ribbon of bends surrounded by the four-thousand metre peaks of the Western Alps? This MTB trail was named after freeride legend Wade Simmons. The curve radii of this super trail in the Swiss canton of Valais reminded the Canadian of the rhythm of a salsa dance.

Some of the trails in the guide can be combined to create your own epic transalp or an exciting road trip weekend. These include the 45-kilometre-long Alps Epic Trail in Davos, which offers a rush of nature in a magnificent landscape and has already been honoured by the IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association). The icing on the cake is the refreshment tip, which reveals where to find the best blueberry cake in the Alps. So there are many good reasons to tackle these truly epic trails!
