There's reason to celebrate in the Trentino Dolomites: In September, the first World Enduro and E-Enduro Championships will be held in the ever-growing trail network of the Val di Fassa Bike Park! But the panoramic area on the Sella massif can do even more.

"Super panorama!" This is usually the first thing a biker says when asked about their visit to the Val di Fassa bike park. Probably because trails for mountain bikers are usually built where there is little hiking traffic anyway due to the lack of views. But in Val di Fassa, in the far north-east of Trentino, people were already thinking a little further ahead back in 2006: kilometres of trails in the middle of the spectacular Dolomite backdrop of the Sassolungo, Sella and Marmolada - there's no need for marketing, it's already going viral on Instagram.

It is not known whether they really thought this way between Col Rodella and Belvedere, on the south face of the Sella massif. The fact is that every year, a lot of money is spent on improving the quality of the trails. In the meantime, the trail network has been developed to such an extent that the region can proudly apply to host the Enduro World Series and is also awarded the contract by the UCI. This year, however, the region will receive a very special honour: from 12 to 15 September, the best enduro racers in the world will gather in Canazei for the first ever Enduro World Championships!

It goes without saying that the best trails will be reserved for this event and will be made even better - in other words, some trails will be closed to normal bikers around this date. But there is much more for ambitious trail lovers to do in the region.

For example, the all-time classic Sellaronda. Even this panoramic experience is not reserved for skiers and hikers, there is also a trail version for mountain bikers: you can start the tour around the Sella massif in Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa. On the giant 58-kilometre circuit, nine lifts save you a steep 3900 metres in altitude, but you still have to climb 370 metres yourself. You will be rewarded with day-long trail experiences and panoramic views that you will never forget.

The highlights in Val di Fassa

Bike District Val di Fassa

The Fassa Bike Park is more than just a bike park. Thanks to the 35 surrounding cable cars, the entire region can be explored on panoramic trails.

Bike park routes: 10 descents that can be combined into a ride of 10 km/1000 tm, e.g. the famous Tutti-Frutti-Trail from Col Rodella.

Open: The cable cars in the villages of Canazei, Campitello and Alba are connected to the bike park itself with a total of 6 lifts. Season: May to October. The prices for the Dolomiti Supersummer Card vary depending on the starting day and duration. Three days in August, for example, cost 85 euros. Info: fassa.com

Sellaronda for mountain bikers

In other Alpine regions, bike trails are often laid where nobody is travelling anyway due to the lack of panoramic views. Once around the gigantic Sella massif: the Sellaronda has been one of the must-do things in the Alps among skiers for decades. Mountain bikers should not miss out on this XXL experience either.

The route: You can cycle the route clockwise or anti-clockwise. However, going clockwise saves you almost 700 metres of ascent. You start at one of the nine cable car stations around the Sella massif in Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba or Val di Fassa. Total: 58 km / 370 metres in altitude / 3900 tm. Info: sellaronda-mtb.com
