Even if one flow trail follows the next in Paganella, the area within sight of Lake Garda is still a real tip for gnarly enduro rides. Stones, roots, soft forest floor - the perfect combination! My highlight is the Giada Line. Unfortunately, some of the key sections have just been defused, but the first section is pure enduro. At Doss Pela, you turn off Line 806 onto 811. Then take a counter-climb to the legendary "Secret Trail" to the shores of Lake Molveno. This way you pack 1500 metres of downhill and the enduro highlights of the area into one run. Big arms guaranteed!
Riding around in the most beautiful mountains in the world, the Dolomites, is already a hit anyway, so picking out the Arabba descent is guaranteed to ignite the afterburner! The trail can be reached quickly from the Fassa Bike Park. It leads from Col dei Rossi down to Arabba. Left, right, up, down - the trail winds as an alpine pump track through a postcard panorama. It starts off easy, then picks up speed and winds its way through scree, berms, over stone steps and rock slabs as wide as a towel. Because there are often short climbs, this trail is recommended for e-enduro bikes. Because then there's an extra portion of flow.
Finale is the hotspot for enduro riders from all over Europe. The special thing about the coastal region is that with around 90 shuttle companies and its own freeride bus line, you can reach the countless trails without long pedalling sections and thus collect endless metres of depth. It's like a bike park, only much bigger. I particularly love these trails: Cacciatore, Toboga di Canova, H-Trail, Rollercoaster, Madonna della Guardia. Because they have everything an enduro trail needs: speed sections, technical chicanes, bends, hairpin bends, forest floor, rocks (sometimes loose, sometimes hard), waves, humps, dips, scree, etc.
With the versatile Enduro 2, the crew around mountain bike Hall of Fame member Diddie Schneider has got everything out of the Geißkopf. In typical enduro style, the route is super varied and surprisingly long. After the start with a marvellous view of the Großer Arber, the trail initially winds its way through open terrain with wide bends until it becomes much narrower and more challenging in the forest. Here, short, rocky steep descents and root carpets challenge the suspension. If you manage to keep up the speed with the variety of built and natural features, you can register for the "Chili Enduro Series" race that takes place here, for example.
"Baden to the Bone" is the name of the freeride trail from Rosskopf in Freiburg. The name: an allusion to local patriotism and the sometimes angry character of the trail. Trail builders from Nelson, BC built it and peppered the 430 metres of altitude with stunts and jumps. They gave the descent a lot of speed and smooth lines - following the Canadian model - and that's exactly what I like so much about the "B2B": Flow & technical tricks, easy riding & thrills. My advice: take a close look at the jumps first and be sure to ride them several times, because: "Second run - double the fun!" By the way: You have to crank up yourself. The way back is through the city. Tip: eat ice cream at the cathedral!
