The Sonnenberg attracts mountain bikers with trails, trails, trails. And a tour that is unrivalled in the Alps. Especially as the south side of Val Venosta/Vinschgau is already guaranteed snow-free in March. Where else in the Alps could you go on a multi-day tour so early in the year?"
But the first morning already makes it clear what awaits you during these three daily stages. 1200 metres in altitude on a constantly steep tarred road lie between Kastelbell at the bottom of the valley and the small village of St. Martin im Kofel, which clings to the slope high above Latsch. And a look at the altitude profile for the three days also casts doubt on Matze's freeride forecast: the profile rises like the fever curve of a malaria patient, with a clear upward trend - after all, it's up the valley for three days, all the way up to Lake Reschen. "If we ride upwards, we can include a lot more and better trails," says Matze in defence of his plan. The story would be much more flowy, even if there are more metres of ascent than descent on the agenda.
In three stages on the sunny side of the Vinschgau Valley from Latsch to Lake Reschen.
Total: 92 km and 4590 m elevation gain
